Black Women Who've Inspired the Fashion World

We are half-way through Black History Month and I felt it necessary to dedicate this blog to three black women who have not only inspired me, but who have influenced fashion throughout history. They showed true individuality, without fear, and I believe there trademark styles still hold credibility in the fashion industry today.

Diana Ross

Diana Ross

The queen of glamour is none other than Diana Ross. The original diva is well known for her glittering outfits and voluminous hair. Her glamorous attire embodied her inspirational self-confidence. She is a woman who is not afraid to go all out on a outfit.

Josephine Baker

Josephine Baker is best known for her banana skirt, silly personality, and risque clothing and it made her all the rage in Paris. No outfit was too much (or too small) for the performer. Oh and she had a pet cheetah, no big deal.

Grace Jones

Grace JonesAnd last, but not least, I had to include the influential Grace Jones to my list. Her androgynous style has been so important to the fashion industry, letting women know that your gender does not dictate what you wear!

All three of these amazing black women showed me that fashion is about displaying your true self, no matter what. Wear what inspires you to be your best self!

With love, your shuu girl,

Cora
